Day 37- Montauk Beach

A day trip to the beautiful Montauk Beach is just one 3-hour train ride away from Manhattan. It is the last stop on the Long Island railroad. Today's destination was the perfect getaway from the big city. Upon our arrival in Montauk a taxi driver drove us 6 miles to "The Village, a hub of shopping, bike rentals and restaurants. Literally, down the block the beach entrance can be easily accessed.

After an 11am breakfast at a Pancake house Max and I took another taxi ride up to the Mantauk Beach Lighthouse. It was fun climbing up to the top of the lighthouse and touring around Turtle Cove. Instead of riding the taxi back to the village we decided to walk the 5 miles back on the beach. This was just the kind of hike I needed to rejuvenate from a busy weekend of traveling. With the sun shining and the sea air blowing in our faces Max and I felt refreshed and relaxed. After an afternoon of hiking and swimming we grabbed some dinner at Nick's Bar and Grill. We enjoyed a lobster dinner on the restaurant's beachside deck. It was the perfect finale to our beach day!
