Day 2- Back to the Basics

It is Day 2 of New York and I am still settling in to my new world.  My mom and I toured the Macy's Department Store this morning.  With ten floors of shopping and restaurants there is something for everyone at that store and to think I live across the street from it, amazing.  Next stop was a much needed K-mart run for the basic start-up apartment essentials.

This afternoon I met up with my friend, Katie.  I love this girl. We met this past January at our NATPE (National Association of Television Program Executives) internship in Las Vegas.  She lives just a couple blocks away from me and helped answer some of my NY101 questions.  With her help I acquired my Subway transportation card and made my first grocery store stop.

Followed by grocery shopping Katie and I met up with a couple of her friends to watch the Tony Awards. Here were a couple of tonight's winners:

Best Play- God of Carnage
Best Musical- Billy Elliot
Best Original Score- Next to Normal
Best Lead Actor in a play- Geoffrey Rush-Exit the King
Best Lead Actress in a play-Marcia Gay Harden- God of Carnage
Best Lead Actor in a musical- David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, Kiril Kulish-Billy Elliot
Best Lead Actoress in a musical-  Alice Ripley- Next to Normal

Looks like I have a few shows to see:)

Time to sign off and get some rest for my first day of work tomorrow.
