69 days with 14 days to go of my amazing WA DC adventure
(This is a picture of Neptune at VA Beach!)
The title of this blog suggests my inquiry about water. Is it possible to be addicted? I mean I have always lived next to the big and blue so I assume I just took it for granted to live next to such an amazing natural resource. This summer I have made a point to try and reach the beach as often as I can. My weekends have become the time for my water fix.
Last weekend for example my roommates, my friend Sean and I went camping along the James River only 20 minutes from VA Beach. The campsite alone was amazing. Our tent spot was right next to the river with a sandy beach. We were in the tent area but just down the path there were bathrooms with showers and many RVs hooked up to their generators. Even us with our air mattress Kate and I agreed that East Coast camping compared to West coast camping can not be defined as exactly "roughing it".
We spent two days at Virginia beach, such a beautiful beach! The beach sprawls for miles and miles. We saw all the hotels, motels, the boardwalk and further down the beach we passed really nice beach houses looking like they came right out of some beach romance novel.
One night we cooked salmon and pasta at the campsite and ate s'mores by the fire of course.
The next night we ate at "Mahi Mah's" a fabulous Seafood restaurant recommended to me by a really sweet co-worker. We all agreed it was some of the best seafood we had EVER tasted! Our dinner consisted of delicious Alaskan snow crab legs, seaweed salad, Maryland crab California rolls, spider rolls, and tuna rolls.
It was yet another perfect weekend. Sleeping under the stars, waking up to the warm sunshine, reading by the river, dancing to live music on the boardwalk "Sweet Home Alabama" and boogie boarding on the beach.
This has been a summer of a lifetime that I will never forget.
