Day 46 with 37 days to go
July 19 and 20th I spent the weekend on the water and in the sun. According to one of my co-workers it was a "typical weekend for an east coaster". Getting out of the city and heading to the beach.
Friday July 18th my roommate Kate and I got a ride to Annapolis from one of my awesome co-workers, Kelly. We met up with Martha and her family and headed out for dinner. We had thai food, my favorite! That evening before bed we strolled down the beach next to the house we were staying at and watched the day-after a full moon rise in the sky over the Chesapeake Bay. According to my mom the moon was bright red because it was low in the sky and because of all the dust particles in the atmosphere.
The next morning we woke up early, grabbed our Starbucks and headed to W. Virginia to go tubing on the Potomac River. We rented tubes at a place called "Butt's Tubes" and were taken up river so that we could float down. It felt so good good to relax, take in the sun and the beautiful views and float downstream. We even ate lunch on a rock! That evening we watched "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "Kinky Boots", two very good movies.
Sunday, Kate and I went for another walk along the beach. Around 11:30am we headed out on Martha and Peter's yacht. They toured us around beautiful Annapolis. We all the waterfront homes and shops and I have now seen the Naval academy where two of my cousins have gone and continue to go to school. I, also, saw "Ego Alley" which is an alley that boats can go down with their boats to show them off in front of a batch of waterfront restaurants. We went swimming and ate sandwiches for lunch. I wish I could be out on a boat on a boat more often. My next goal is to learn how to sail!
Sunday was a really hot day in DC 93 degrees in the shade! Yet, on the boat we were lucky enough to have a breeze and it felt really nice to get two whole days outside. Since I am inside so much of the week for work.
For dinner we went to the Annapolis Yacht club and I had some really good cream of crab soup. Yummy.
I feel blessed to have been shown Annapolis in the best way possible by one of the nicest families I know. I needed my water fix weekend.
I never could see myself living far from the water, I love it too much!
