The day of rest...

Day 24 ~ Sunday June 29th ~

As I embark on my 4th week here in DC I wonder to myself where all this time is going. I must admit there is something special about living two blocks from the Capitol building. My favorite loop I've found for running takes me around the Library of Congress, the Cannon building by the Capitol through the National Mall and to the Washington Monument. It is beautiful! Last week the Fleishman-Hillard softball games were cancelled due to weather but will continue tomorrow:) The office is keeping me busy with research, writing even attending a Health Committee hearing on the hill and an American Enterprise Institute conference on Health and aging.

This weekend Archita and I returned to Vienna. We hung out with Nancy and Dick and Alex and Barbara. We made oatmeal, dried-cherry, and pecan cookies. SOooo Yummy! Dick cooked us burgers for dinner and then Nancy, Archita, Alex and I went to Old Town, Alexandria. We walked around the beautiful colonial town turned modern with all its shops and restaurants. A tour guide took us on a ghost tour, dressed in a colonial dress she told us stories from the past. Spooky stories that linked with almost every historic building we passed. After leaving us in the cemetery we made our way down King St. to the boardwalk.

After sleeping in from our slumber party Archita and I made our way back to the city. I met up with Ariel, my new friend from the Congress Daily in Georgetown for ice cream. Then I finished up my Sunday with a run down by the folk festival (on the National Mall) and a look around the Smithsonian Natural History museum.

Here's to a new week. Only 5 days until the 4th of July!
